Assuming you are not enamored with the additional freebies (Copilot, etc.), why have the fees increased from $99 to $129 per year? (To save you firing up your calculator, it's a 30% increase.)

This Microsoft article isn't dated so I can't confirm that the option still is available but it's worth a try. It explains how to downgrade a Personal or Family subscription to Classic:

The price change was announced by email with no explanation, and a 30% increase is very significant! For those of us who rely on Microsoft products every day, it feels like we’re being backed into a corner. I mean what real choice do we have other than canceling, which Microsoft knows most people won’t do.

It also raises concerns about what comes next. If the price can jump 30% this year without justification, will it be 50% next year? It feels like we’re being asked to pay more without receiving equivalent value in return. Copilot is still clunky, and the PowerPoint design features are disappointing. They feel like they're stuck in the 90's corporate era, sorry Microsoft.

At this point, it just feels like we’re stuck with whatever changes are imposed.

    Regards.

The accepted answer provided options, which I appreciate.

but Microsoft’s approach to the fee change is not appreciated.

    Hi Norman,

    Thank you for reaching out.

The price hike is probably due to the integration of Copilot AI in Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, and Outlook. What used to be a separate add-on is now built in, which is why the annual subscription increased from $99.99 to $129.99. Copilot AI helps streamline your work by speeding up writing, summarizing emails, organizing data, and automating repetitive tasks, making things more efficient overall.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if you have any further questions If the answer is helpful, please click "Accept Answer".
