How to fix reoccurring issue where laptop microphone is not listed in devices after several re-installs that worked temporarily

My microphone doesn't work when using a team's or zoom meeting. It is not available to turn on (grayed out). Check device manager/audio inputs and outputs in settings and no microphone is listed. Download recommended driver for microphone from HP. This works for a while. The next time I go to a team's meeting the same thing happens. No microphone available and no microphone shown in the device manager. The microphone driver seems to keep disappearing. I am using a HP laptop model 17z-cp200. Using co-pilot for advice on how to fix has not worked for me yet. I would think this is not an unusual problem. Can anyone help?
