My Dell Optiplex XE3 Computer had a copy of Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC version 1809 activated with a digital license. I formatted it and installed another copy of Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC version 1809 but the licensing failed. I need the same copy of Windows to try again; can some please help.

Thanks

Ed

    Hello IT Helpdesk/IT/UGANDA,

You're not the first to get caught by it. The problem is your activation method, not the software copy. Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC (version 1809 or any) does not use a digital license for activation.

Enterprise LTSC only activates with a Volume License:

    • A MAK (Multiple Activation Key)
    • A KMS server (on your company network)

The digital license tied to that Dell computer was almost certainly for Windows 10 Pro (the original OEM license), which cannot be used to activate an Enterprise LTSC installation.

You don't need the same copy of the ISO. You need to:

    • Contact your IT Administrator and ask for the company's LTSC 1809 MAK key.
    • Or Connect the PC to the company network so it can find the KMS server to activate automatically.

If this clears things up, please click "Accept Answer" to help others who fall into this LTSC trap.
