    Hello RGM,

Thank you for asking this question on the Microsoft QnA Portal! I’m assuming you accidentally deleted an Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Managed Instance — not a local SQL Server service — and you’re looking to recover it.

If it’s an Azure SQL Database, recovery is possible if you deleted it within the last 35 days (or up to 7 years if you had long-term backup retention enabled). Go to the Azure portal, navigate to your SQL server, and under “Backups,” you’ll see a “Deleted databases” section — you can restore from there using a point-in-time restore or a full backup. If it’s an Azure SQL Managed Instance, recovery is only possible if you had automated backups enabled, and you can restore to a new instance within the retention period.

However, if you deleted the entire SQL server resource (not just the database), you may still be able to restore individual databases from their backup history — but only if backups were configured.

Could you confirm whether you deleted just the database or the entire SQL server resource? And do you know if automated backups were enabled before the deletion? That will tell us exactly how far back you can recover.
