We image PC's with Win 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC v1809 Build 17763.7919. We need to find the best way to do an in-place upgrade to Win 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2 Build 26100 or newer. Uncertain if the only path is to do a full re-image. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

In short, yes, an in-place upgrade from Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC v1809 to Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2 is supported, but it requires meeting specific prerequisites including licensing and hardware compatibility.

Here are a few key points to consider:

Licensing: You’ll need a new product key for Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC. The upgrade won’t work with your existing Windows 10 LTSC key.

Upgrade Method: You can perform the upgrade using a USB drive or deployment tools like SCCM or Windows Deployment Services. Dell’s upgrade guide outlines both local and remote upgrade workflows.

Hardware Requirements: Ensure your Surface Laptop 5 or other devices meet Windows 11’s TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and CPU compatibility requirements.

Preserving Data: The in-place upgrade retains user data and applications, but it’s always best to back up critical data before proceeding.

If your devices don’t meet the hardware requirements or you’re unable to obtain the correct license, a full re-image may be necessary. If this answer helped, feel free to hit “Accept answer” so others can benefit too 😊
