Onedrive for Business App for iOS, picture editing not possible when files are located in Teams/Sharepoint

I’ve tested it on both Android and iPhone, and the results are exactly as you described: 

• On Android, the OneDrive app allows direct markup/editing of image files stored in SharePoint or Teams. 

• On iOS (iPhone), however, the edit icon does not appear for those same files.

To edit them, you need to open the file in its corresponding app. For example: Excel files must be opened in the Excel app. 

This behavior seems to be part of the intentional UI design on iOS; likely Microsoft aimed at providing a more integrated and secure editing workflow through native apps. It’s not a permissions issue, and the experience is consistent across devices. 

Since this is by design, I highly recommend submitting feedback through the Microsoft 365 Feedback Hub:    

• Go to Help => Feedback => Send Feedback          
• Describe your suggestions in detail.          

This allows the development team to understand the needs of real users. Not only OneDrive for OS, but also all Microsoft apps are continuously improved to better serve users like you. Your feedback may help us revive or introduce features that make a real difference.        

Every submission is reviewed, and many product enhancements have come directly from user input. I’ll also submit feedback myself, as it’s clear that many users are experiencing the same issue.

thank you very much for testing and your suggestions.

I have to add the following, because editing in IOs is possible, it depends where the file is located.

IOS

If I open a picture via "OneDrive -> my files -> picturefile" i can edit it and save markups

If it is opened via "OneDrive -> Libraries -> picturefile" the edit button is missing!?

Why is the button missing only in Libraries? (I did not fully test "shared files" as in you screenshot)

I’ve tested this on my side and can confirm your observation: 

• When I access a picture via OneDrive =>My files on my iPhone:

I’m able to edit and save markups directly. These files are fully under your ownership, so the OneDrive iOS app allows full editing capabilities. 

• However, when I access the same picture via OneDrive =>Libraries, the Edit button is indeed missing even when I upload the image myself and have full permissions. 

This is because files in Libraries are stored in a SharePoint document library, not in your personal OneDrive. The OneDrive iOS app may restrict editing or markup features for files stored in SharePoint libraries. That’s why you’re unable to edit them in this context. 

Interestingly, editing still works fine in the web version and on Android devices, even for pictures uploaded by others in the library.

I believe this might be by design. Hopefully, Microsoft will consider expanding this functionality on iOS in the future. Additionally, thank you for sharing the feedback link.
