A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data
Everything is driven by the G/L Code and those need not be numbers. Each unique code that appears in any row(s) of the Itemized Expenses worksheet needs to also appear in one row of the Monthly Summary worksheet and one row of the YTD Summary worksheet. This synchronization is currently done manually.
The titles may make the code meaningful to you but they are used by Excel only to filter the rows that you can see. The slicer will change automatically when you remove, add, or alter a title in the Monthly Summary. The same is true for the Requestor and Payee in the Itemized Expenses.
To add a new category, decide upon a G/L Code and a Title. Then perform the following step in both the YTD and Monthly worksheets:
- Insert a row in the middle of the table.
- Put the code and title in the appropriate column.
- If the other columns did not populate from the previous row, copy them to this row.
Add an entry for this code to Itemized Expenses and verify the two new rows show the correct data.
