Email Authentication Issues

Dear MS Team,
I am reaching out to seek clarification regarding an issue I'm experiencing with my email domain. Currently, my SPF, DKIM, and DMARC settings are failing:

  • SPF: Fail
  • DKIM: Fail
  • DMARC: Fail (Current setting: v=DMARC1; p=reject)

According to my understanding, if these settings fail, I should be receiving bounce-back emails. However, I am not receiving any bounce-back notifications, and while my email server indicates that messages are sent, they are not being received by the intended recipients.

Could you please assist me in identifying the potential problem here?

    Hi @Yannis Tse

Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on your description, we understand that you are considering why your email domain is not receiving any bounce-back notifications despite having a misconfiguration.

As my research, looks like your messages might be getting quarantined. This could explain why you are not receiving bounce-back emails related to the DNS record misconfiguration.

You can refer more via: Anti-phishing policies in Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Defender for Office 365 | Microsoft Learn

To help address your concern more effectively, could you try using Message Trace in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center to verify the path your email has taken and determine where it might have been delayed, quarantined, or failed.

You could refer to: Message trace in the new EAC in Exchange Online | Microsoft Learn

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.
