Word and PowerPoint crashes on iPad Pro when copying and pasting

Hi,

I have a consistent problem with both Word and PowerPoint crashing on my iPadPro, when doing simple copy -paste. So both apps are in effect useless, as they crash with this simple (and often used) function.

I could assume that the security options on the «Firmaportal» app, ensuring company privacy and sharing policies on the mobile device, might be involved, but I have no way of knowing.

Any suggestions?

Problem still persists, even after the latest updates with the Microsoft apps. The fact that this bug is possible and not rectified is amazing.

This problem still persist. Even after months of waiting for Microsoft to respond via our IT-supplier.

A colleague has the same problem on their iPad (different model and different iPadOS version), so it is across several devices / versions.

Are we the only company experiencing this?

    Hi @Viking

Thank you for your confirmation. Based on your description, the issue may be related to Microsoft Intune App Protection Policies that control data transfer between managed and unmanaged apps.

To proceed, please contact your organization’s IT administrator and ask them to:

    • Sign in to the Microsoft Intune Admin Center
    • Navigate to Apps > iOS/iPadOS > Intune app protection.
    • Review the settings for Restrict cut, copy, and paste between apps under Data protection for iOS/iPadOS.

These policies determine whether copy-paste is allowed between Microsoft 365 apps and other apps like Safari. If the restriction is set to “Policy-managed apps only,” pasting into unmanaged apps will be blocked.

If the app crashes instead of showing a policy warning, please share this information with your IT team so they can review logs and confirm the configuration.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

I'm looking forward to your reply.

    Hi,

I have updated iOS, reinstalled Word and PowerPoint and have plenty of free storage space, but the problem still persists.

So this is not a quick fix.

    Any other suggestions?
