Hi Support,

I downloaded the only image available for Surface 7 "SurfaceLaptop7_BMR_182010_2025.603.10570967.zip"

but it keeps telling me that archive is corrupt " CRC failed: install3.swm"

ZIP was downloaded Thursday 2nd Oct 2025.

Where can I get a copy of the corrupted file. I have used Windows ZIP, Winrar and 7Zip and they all fail on the same file.

Regards,

Kevin B.

Hi Kevin Biasi, Thanks for reach out Microsoft community

To resolve the CRC error in the Surface Laptop 7 recovery image, try re-downloading the ZIP file from the official Microsoft Surface Recovery Image page using a stable wired connection after signing in and entering your device’s serial number, verify that the ZIP file size matches the expected value to rule out incomplete download.

here's the link where you can redownload it
Surface Recovery Image Download - Microsoft Support

    Thank you Lucky,

Did not think a hard-wired connection would make a difference when downloading the image but it did. I have now been able to resurrect my bricked Surface Pro 7 laptop after it failed to successfully complete a Factory reset.

    Again, thank you.
