Sync issues -> Cut notes -> OneNote glitched -> lost notes forever?

I was having sync issues with one of my notes in one of my notebooks on my android tablet. Every other note was syncing just fine when looking at the OneNote app on my windows computer and on the online version. I tried multiple things to resolve the sync issue, but decided it was best to cut my notes that weren't syncing on my tablet, and paste them into a note that was syncing so that I wouldn't lose them while I worked on resolving the issue. However, right after I cut the notes, OneNote glitched, my screen went blank, and OneNote reopened with no recollection that I just cut my notes - there was no way to paste them, the "undo" arrow was grayed out...pretty much a nightmare - these are my research notes and I lost about 1 week worth of notes. Is there any potential way to recover them?

    Hi @Cole

Thank you so much for contacting Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Based on your description, I understand that you lost about a week's worth of important research notes on your Android tablet. This happened after you cut the text from a note with sync issues, and the OneNote application crashed before you could paste them, leaving no option to undo or recover the text from the clipboard.

I know how incredibly frustrating and disheartening this situation is, and I will be here to help you in any way I can.

Please try the steps outlined in the following two official Microsoft support articles:

Method 1: Review the history of a page - Microsoft Support

Method 2: Recover a deleted page or section

Method 3: You can recover your data from OneDrive to your OneNote android apps. Go to OneDrive> Recycle bin > Select the OneNote file you want to recover > Click on Restore

Can I ask a few more questions?

    • Are you the owner of that notebook, or was it shared with you by someone else?
    • Additionally, when you were unable to sync, did any specific error message appear?

You can refer to the following article to help fix issues when you can't sync OneNote:

Fix issues when you can't sync OneNote - Microsoft Support

I hope you will try the steps above so we can make some progress. If the error still persists, I will be here waiting for you, and we will find the best possible solution together.
