Registered printer shows as Available in Print Connector App

We have a number of printers that are deployed via Azure Universal Print. We use the Universal Print connector on a dedicated server. All work fine except there's one particular printer that continuously stops working. When we launch the Universal Print connector, that printer is listed in the Available Printers section, not the Registered Printers section. We've followed the instructions in the article titled "Registered printer shows as Available in Print Connector App" to unregister/re-register the printer, but it just happens again within a day or two. The article states that this happens "If the printer is deleted from Microsoft Entra ID Devices" but to our knowledge we are not deleting the printer from Entra ID.

    Dear Seitel Admin,

We understand that one of your printers deployed via Azure Universal Print is repeatedly reverting to the "Available Printers" section in the Universal Print Connector, despite being re-registered successfully.

This behavior typically occurs when the printer object is removed from Microsoft Entra ID, as noted in the article "Registered printer shows as Available in Print Connector App". If you're certain the printer is not being manually deleted, we recommend checking for automated cleanup policies or third-party tools that may be modifying Entra ID device records.

Additionally, ensure that the connector service has persistent access to the printer and that the printer’s registration is not being overwritten by another connector instance. Reviewing the connector event logs and confirming that the printer remains listed in Entra ID under Devices > Printers may help isolate the issue.

If the problem continues, we suggest opening a support case through the Azure Portal so our engineering team can assist with deeper diagnostics.

If my answer is useful for you, please give it a vote.

    Best regards,

    Quinnie Quoc.
