We are provisioning servers in our customer environment using RHEL 9.4 images from the Azure Marketplace. These images, by default, configure the /boot partition with a size of only 500MB.

This partition size is insufficient for our operational needs and is expected to cause problems during future system patching or kernel updates, potentially impacting system stability and availability.

at this moment it is already filed up 82%

/dev/sdg2      xfs   496M  420M  90M  82% /boot

    Hello Vadher, Arvind

Thank you for reaching out & hope you are doing well

During custom installation of RHEL 9 for Azure, Red Hat recommends at least 500 MB for /boot, but notes that 1 GB or more is adequate, especially to safely handle future kernel updates.

    https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/9/html-single/deploying_rhel_9_on_microsoft_azure/index

please refer for more details as well on this documentation https://serverfault.com/questions/334663/what-is-the-recommended-size-for-a-linux-boot-partition

    Regards

    Himanshu
