I’d like to know if it’s possible to use a web security filter (WAF) in an environment that includes Exchange Server 2019. Specifically, I’m wondering whether key features like webmail access, admin portal, calendar services, and mobile syncing can still work properly when this kind of protection is added.

If there’s any official guidance or documentation from Microsoft confirming whether this setup is supported, I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you!

    Hi @Tsat Zovokov

Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Q&A.

As my research, I have reviewed all relevant articles regarding Exchange Server 2019 and WAF (Web Application Firewall/Filter) configuration. Currently, there is no official documentation from Microsoft confirming native support for WAF in Exchange Server 2019. However, it is technically feasible to install and configure a WAF with Exchange 2019. As long as the required ports are properly opened and the WAF is correctly configured, it should function without issues.

You can refer via: Exchange server and WAF - Microsoft Q&A

To help you reach your goal more effectively, I recommend posting a thread on the Microsoft Tech Community forum. It’s a great platform for deeper technical discussions and connecting with individuals who have hands-on experience and expertise. They’re best positioned to provide guidance and suggest potential solutions. As a forum moderator, I don’t have access to detailed documentation or insights into specific issues you might encounter when configuring a WAF with Exchange Server 2019.

If you have any additional concern, feel free to comment below. I be more than happy to assist.
