Hi ,

This is because Windows files remain hidden, which are necessary system files, and are protected. You can enable hidden files for system files; they are not directly counted in the selection.

There's also the TreeSyze program that lists applications along with their space and path.

To show hidden files, go to Windows Explorer > View > Folder Options > Viewer > Show hidden files and uncheck Show system files.

thank you for explaining. i have wiztree and i checked it says 82gb used. i have another question though...is it normal for windows updates and drivers to use that much of storage? i only have chrome, a pdf reader, discord, wiztree and roblox installed and doubt that they use most of that storage

Hi ,

Well, the problem is that there are many updates that remain in Windows after installation. Each update tends to gradually consume space, unfortunately.

You can run Disk Cleanup to clean up the update packages that arrive with Windows Updates, which take up space, even if only a little.

In the search bar, type diskcleanup > Select clean system files > be careful with the Downloads folder and include it; select everything except the Downloads folder and press OK.
