I cannot install the latest Microsoft Teams, in my macbook

Hai all. I tried to install MS Teams on my macbook but it cannot seem to be installed. I've been using the web browser instead.

Anyone know why it cannot be installed?
is the web browser version the same as the app or is there limitation?

Please help. thank you in advance.

Could you let me know which macOS version your MacBook is currently running? This will help me figure out the cause and provide the best solution if you're having trouble installing Teams.

Also, when you tried to download, did you see any error messages pop up? If so, could you send me a screenshot of it? That would be super helpful for troubleshooting.

In the meantime, please try downloading and installing Microsoft Teams using this direct link:

Double-click the .PKG file will get automatically start the installation.

The first screen of the installer displays a simple introduction message. Click Continue to move ahead.

The next screen lets you know how much disk space it will use, and asks for confirmation on where to install it. If you're using a standard drive layout (e.g. a MacBook Air with only one drive), it should offer to install on your main disk. If you have more than one drive, you can click Change Install Location to choose your preferred destination. Otherwise, click Install to kick off the process.

Before anything is installed, you'll be prompted for an administrator password. Enter one, then hit Install Software.

The installer will start copying files at this point, and show you its progress.

Once complete, you should get a success message. You can click Close to quit the installer.

When you first launch Teams, you'll be prompted to log in with a Microsoft account. This may be a personal account, or one provided by your company (such as Office 365).

I was able to successfully download the Teams app by moving the Installer to my applications folder. However, I am now trying to access a meeting recording and keep getting a message that I am not in the sender's directory. How do I download the recording file?

It is not possible to install the New Teams application on MacOS 11.7.10. The minimum system requirement is Mac OS 13.

Hai Ruwim. thanks for sharing the link. turns out my 2014 macbook air cannot update the latest MacOS. so cannot use the MS Teams software, and will only use the web browser version

You're running macOS 11.7.10 (Big Sur). This is likely the reason you're having trouble installing the latest version of Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams officially supports one of the three most recent versions of macOS.

As of July 2025, the most recent macOS versions are typically:

macOS 15 (Sequoia)

macOS 14 (Sonoma)

macOS 13 (Ventura)

Since you are on macOS 11 (Big Sur), your operating system is no longer officially supported by the latest versions of Microsoft Teams. This means the installer for the current Teams application will likely fail or the app may not function correctly if you manage to install an older version.

I'm using Macbook Air 2014, and it cannot installed the latest MacOS software - Big Sur is the latest. so no chance for me to install the updated MS Teams then ya. since the web browser has limitations in its features.
