OneNote synch problems

Hi,

I'm experiencing issues with OneNote synchronisation.

I use the app on my MacBook (seems like I have the latest version), but it seems like my notebooks are only stored locally and not syncing to the cloud. When I log into my Microsoft account online, I don't see any of the folders or notes I've created on my MacBook. The same happens on my iPhone app — none of the content appears there.

I’ve put a lot of time into organising my OneNote with a clear structure and folders, so I really don’t want to lose any of that work.

I’m not sure what’s causing the problem, but perhaps this error code is helpful:

E0001471 6pmbc 30105 | 38409742-4928-7945-b8a5-711310725c2c 202506190933

I have a Microsoft account through work (likely part of a business plan), but I also have a personal Microsoft account.

Any advice on how to fix this would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Best,
Björn

My version doesn’t seem to have a ‘File’ option in the menu. When I try to access any of my notebooks by right-clicking and selecting ‘Share’ > ‘Manage Notebook Access’, I get a ‘Loading Failed’ error right away, with a ‘Try Again’ button — but that doesn’t work, even after multiple attempts.

    Good morning

    Welcome to Microsoft Community

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I understand that you need assistance with your OneNote. To upload your local OneNote information to the cloud, you’ll want to make sure your notebooks are saved to your OneDrive. Here’s how to do that:

    1. Open OneNote on your computer.
    2. Click “File” > “Info” and check where your notebook is stored. If it says "This notebook is on your computer," it’s not yet in the cloud.
    3. Click “Share” (in the same “Info” tab), then choose “OneDrive” as the location.
    4. Sign in with your Microsoft account if prompted.
    5. Choose or create a folder on your OneDrive, then click “Move” or “Save”.

Once that’s done, OneNote will sync your notebook to the cloud and keep it up to date across your devices.

Note: Kindly check if you are logged in to the same Microsoft account on your other devices

    Best regards

    JK
