The case is like I made a notebook and put it in closed notebook section. Then I delete it from onedrive but still it is showing me in the closed notebook section. How and why although it is not opening but i deleted it so that I can't see it anymore but the name of the folder is showing under closed section. Please help to get resolved.

    Hi Anushka S,

Good day and thanks for reaching out to Microsoft community, we are happy to assist you.

Based on the information I've reviewed, it appears you've encountered the issue where a deleted OneNote notebook continues to appear under the 'Closed Notebooks' section."

By default, when you delete a notebook from OneDrive:

    • The actual file is removed
    • OneNote retains a cached reference to it in your app, especially in the "Closed Notebooks" section.

This will help users reopen notebooks they’ve recently closed.

To Remove It from the Closed Notebooks List for cleaner list, based on your version you can do these following steps:

For OneNote for Windows 10 / OneNote App:

    1. Open OneNote.
    2. In the left navigation pane, scroll to the Closed Notebooks section.
    3. Right-click on the notebook that’s still showing.
    4. Select "Remove from List" or "Forget" (the wording may vary slightly depending on the version).

For OneNote 2016 / Office Version:

    1. Go to File > Open.
    2. Under Recent Notebooks, right-click the notebook.
    3. Choose "Remove from List".
