Hi S.Sivakumaran,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I'm happy to help you.
I understand that you are experiencing an issue with the Microsoft 365 eraser tool, where it works fine for the pen but not for the highlighter. You mentioned that it was working for both pen and highlighter before, but suddenly stopped working for highlighters.
First, you can try accessing Microsoft 365 OneNote web app and test the eraser tool for both the pen and highlighter on your tablet (Visit https://office.com, open OneNote web app) . This will help us determine if the issue is specific to the tablet app version of the application or if it's affecting all versions.
If the issue doesn't occur in the web version, here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
**1. Update OneNote :**It's possible that an outdated version of the app is causing this issue. Please make sure that your Microsoft 365 apps are up to date. Here’s how you can update the apps:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap Menu , then tap on My apps & games.
- Find OneNoteand tap Update.
Note:Apps with update available updates are labeled"Update" If it is not labeled, then it means that there is no update available yet for that specific app.
2. Restart Your Device: A simple restart of your tablet may resolve the issue, especially if it's related to any temporary glitches in the system.
Note: Once the tablet restarts, try using the eraser tool again on both pen and highlighter.
3. Check Highlighter Settings: If the eraser tool still works for the pen but not for the highlighter, there may be a setting or interaction between the pen and highlighter tools that has changed. Follow these steps to test:
· Open a Microsoft 365 app (OneNote, etc.) and select the Pen tool.
· Write something and use the Eraser tool to remove it. Ensure the pen eraser works as expected.
· Switch to the Highlighter tool, highlight some text, and then try erasing the highlighter.
4. **Check for Tablet-Specific Issues:**Since the issue is happening on a tablet, ensure that the tablet settings and pen settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, the touch or stylus input settings may interfere with tool functionality. To check your tablet's pen settings:
Open the Settings on your tablet > Go to Pen & Windows Ink.
Ensure that the settings are configured correctly for the pen to work with all drawing and highlighting features.
5. Try Reinstalling the Application: If none of the above steps worked, the app installation may be corrupted. Here’s how to reinstall:
Go to Settings > Apps > Microsoft 365 app (e.g., Word, OneNote)> Tap Uninstall>Then, reinstall the app from Google Play Store.
If still the same issue, for better understand your situation and solve the issue, could you please provide below information:
1. Does this issue only occurs in OneNote Android App?
2. Does this issue happen in a specific OneNote notebook? May I know where is your notebook saved? In OneDrive for business or personal OneDrive?
3. Does the eraser tool not work for the highlighter in all documents or just specific ones?
4. Have you tried using the highlighter or eraser tool on another device or web to see if the issue is the same?
Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated. Have a great day!
Best regards,
Sophia
