One time it said there was no Internet connection. There was. It worked away from my home. It has flipped off 4 times today! Is it my phone? Something I need to do or what?

    Hi, Jean Oltvedt

I apologize for getting back to you so late, I was on vacation two days ago. Thank you also for the further details you have provided.

Regarding your issue, you can try some of the following:

Sometimes Android devices close apps running in the background to save battery. You can try turning off Microsoft Defender's battery optimization settings:

    • Open Settings > select Apps or App Management > find the Microsoft Defender app > select “Battery or Battery Optimization > turn off Battery Optimization or allow background activity.

Although you mentioned that your internet connection is working fine, sometimes apps may not work properly due to network setup issues. Make sure the Defender app has permission to use your network:

    • Open Settings > select Network & Internet > make sure your Wi-Fi and mobile data connections are working > check app permissions to make sure Defender has network access.

If all these steps have been checked, then you can try reinstalling the app, try uninstalling Microsoft Defender, and then reinstall it from the Google Play Store.

We look forward to your feedback on the results. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

    1. I downloaded the app from Google Playstore.
    2. It implied my internet didn't work but it does so I was just indicating it worked through my phone when I was away from home so why blame my home internet?
    3. It's a personal account and I'm wondering if I actually even need this now.
    4. I have a Samsung Z Flip 6.

    Hi, Jean Oltvedt

Understand that your question is about the Defender application.

In order to help you further with your question, I need to confirm the following information:

    1. From what source did you download your Defender app? When you mention “shutting off”, do you mean that the app is flashing off? If so, does it flash off immediately upon opening the app, or does it flash off after some action?
    2. “It worked away from my home”, does it mean that Defender can work normally in network environment outside your home? Does it only shut down frequently or have problems in your home network environment?

3.Is your account a personal account or a Principality or school account?

    1. The device you mentioned is Android, please provide specific information about the device model.

Please provide these details so that I can diagnose the problem more accurately and provide targeted assistance.

Thank you for your understanding and I look forward to hearing from you.
