An integrated threat protection solution designed to detect, investigate, and respond to cyber threats across Microsoft 365 services.
Hi, Jean Oltvedt
I apologize for getting back to you so late, I was on vacation two days ago. Thank you also for the further details you have provided.
Regarding your issue, you can try some of the following:
Sometimes Android devices close apps running in the background to save battery. You can try turning off Microsoft Defender's battery optimization settings:
- Open Settings > select Apps or App Management > find the Microsoft Defender app > select “Battery or Battery Optimization > turn off Battery Optimization or allow background activity.
Although you mentioned that your internet connection is working fine, sometimes apps may not work properly due to network setup issues. Make sure the Defender app has permission to use your network:
- Open Settings > select Network & Internet > make sure your Wi-Fi and mobile data connections are working > check app permissions to make sure Defender has network access.
If all these steps have been checked, then you can try reinstalling the app, try uninstalling Microsoft Defender, and then reinstall it from the Google Play Store.
We look forward to your feedback on the results. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.
