Where did the record option go?

I am using an iPad Pro running iPadOS 17.4.1, and using PowerPoint version 2.84. In December 2023, I used this same setup to record a whole slideshow and export it as a video. Now the record option seems to no longer exist. I still have it as an option in the ribbon on my Macbook Air, but not on the iPad, and I have to use the iPad for this. Where did it go? How can I record a voiceover on each slide as I did before? Thank you!

Thank you for your response! The screen recording option won’t help, as I need to record audio/speech to each slide. It will allow me to add prerecorded audio but not add narration. Thank you for investigating this; I know it has existed in the recent past as I did use this feature on this device in Dec 2023, and it would be so helpful to have it back. Thank you again, I look forward to any updates.

    Dear respected Jen,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

Per the description, we understand your demand of recording in PowerPoint for iPad 2.84. But from my check on iPad test devices in our team including 2.84 and 2.81.1(24011922), it seems like we all failed to find the related options of recording.

In this situation, we may sorry that currently we may show no out-of-box feature to achieve the slideshow recording in PowerPoint for iOS. And I will submit this to the related product team to wait and see if they will share back any related information of this feature. As a workaround, it is suggested to use the screen recording feature from iOS.

Meanwhile, it is also suggested to share your voice and feedback to the PowerPoint for iPad product team via the inside Feedback channel. See: How do I give feedback on Microsoft 365? - Microsoft Support

Feedback submit by this way directly goes to the related team. This is the best way to let Microsoft PowerPoint developers aware of the demand of recording in iPad and higher submitted ideas will be taken consideration on the following updates, your valuable ideas and suggestions will help improve the product and make it better for every user.

I appreciate your time and effort on checking these above and thank you for your time and cooperation.

I hope that you are keeping safe and well.

    Sincerely,

    Mia | Microsoft Community Moderator
