When I send pictures on teams, they show up as files and one has to click on it to see the picture. My work colleagues send pictures it shows a picture, not a file number. How do I send a picture that just shows as a picture/photograph?

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. Unfortunately, Microsoft Teams doesn't currently offer a way to directly embed images within chat messages. Regardless of how you send them (attaching or copying/pasting), they'll appear as file previews or links.

However, there are two workarounds to achieve a more picture-like experience for your colleagues:

Sending as a Thumbnail:

While Teams doesn't embed images, it displays a thumbnail preview for attached pictures. This can give the impression of a full image. Here's how to do it:

Open the chat where you want to share the picture. Click the "Attach" button (paperclip icon) below the message box. Select "Upload from my computer" and choose the picture you want to send. The filename will appear initially, but once you send the message, it'll be replaced with a thumbnail preview.

Using the Mobile App (Free Version Only):

The free version of the Microsoft Teams mobile app allows you to directly share photos from your device's camera or photo library. These will appear as previews within the chat, similar to how your colleagues might be sharing them.

Here's how to do it on the mobile app:

Open the chat where you want to share the picture. Tap the "+" button next to the message box. Select "Media". Choose "Camera" to take a new picture or "Photo library" (or "Gallery" if available) to select an existing one. You can edit the image if desired and then tap "Done". Add a message if you want and tap "Send".
