Managing Link Expiration

From an educator's perspective/level of system access, is there a way to change a bulk number of links my MS Team so they won't expire? Can I retroactively change the permissions (in a bulk manner) to share only with people in my organization?

    Hello Christopher S,

I'm Ibhadighi and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

As an educator, you may want to change the expiration settings for multiple links in your Microsoft Teams environment. Unfortunately, there is no built-in feature to change the expiration settings for multiple links at once. You will need to update the settings for each link individually.

However, you can change the default link expiration settings for your organization. This will affect all new links created in your organization, but it will not affect existing links. To change the default link expiration settings, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open the Microsoft Teams admin center.
    2. Navigate to Teams apps > Permission policies.
    3. Select the policy you want to modify.
    4. Under File sharing, locate the Link settings section.
    5. Adjust the Link expiration setting to your desired value.
    6. Click Save.

By changing the default link expiration settings, you can ensure that new links created in your organization do not expire prematurely.

Regarding retroactively changing the permissions to share only with people in your organization, you can modify the sharing settings for each link individually. To do this, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open the Microsoft Teams app.
    2. Locate the link you want to modify.
    3. Click on the … (ellipsis) next to the link.
    4. Choose Details.
    5. Under Access, select People in [Your Organization].
    6. Click Apply.

By modifying the sharing settings for each link, you can ensure that only people in your organization can access the content.

Please note that the exact implementation details may also depend on your organization’s policies and settings.

    I hope this helps,

    Best regards, Ibhadighi
