Student work disappearing from assignment edited through Teams app

I have distributed a scaffold to students as an assignment and have selected "students edit their own copy." I have seen students working in these documents, however, when they go to check their work in a subsequent lesson, their work has gone missing.

The functionality of Google Classroom and Google docs includes tracking all changes automatically and therefore, you can restore previous versions of the document. Is there a way to do this on Microsoft Teams? It is becoming very frustrating for students who spend a considerable amount of time working on their assignments only for their content to go missing and be untraceable.

    Thanks John.

I have checked the edited files in both file paths in the past. Both appear unedited even though students - and myself - have edited their copy through Teams. Still no resolution!

Hi, Natalina! I am John, Independent Advisor here to work with you on this issue.

When the assignment is set to “Students edit their own copy” which make they don’t need to upload the documents, when they edit the document, it will auto create their own copy document and store in SharePoint.

Therefore, please confirm the two paths:

Open in SharePoint> Site contents> Student Work> Submitted files folder> student name folder> assignment name folder

Open in SharePoint> Site contents> Student Work> Working files folder> student name folder> assignment name folder

    Hope it helps.

    Best Regards
