Changing Microsoft Teams Notification Email Address

Currently, our Microsoft Teams email notifications are sent using one of the admin staff's email addresses (******@abc.com) for unread messages. This can create confusion for some users. To avoid this, changing the notification email to a generic address, such as ******@abc.com, would be better.

This change will help users recognize that the email is sent from an admin account rather than from an individual staff member.

Could you please provide guidance on how to proceed with changing the notification email address from ******@abc.com to ******@abc.com? This will ensure all notifications are sent under the ******@abc.com address rather than John's.

    Hi Eunice,

    Thank you for your reply. After checking the settings you provided for the Microsoft Teams app and the Office 365 portal, I only found the option for "Missed Activity Email" under notifications and activity settings.

    As mentioned, I would like to change the default notification email address for unread messages in Microsoft Teams Chat to a generic address, such as admin email. Currently, users have been receiving emails from john(user email) for unread messages in the Microsoft Teams chat, which may cause confusion among users. Therefore, it would be beneficial to change the notification email to a generic account, like admin email, instead of john email.

    Jasson W, I understand your requirement now. Unfortunately, Microsoft Teams doesn't currently support changing the default notification email address for unread messages in chat to a generic address like an admin email. The notification emails are sent from the email address of the user who sent the message, as you've observed.
