Need to delete/reset MS365 Developer Account

I need help deleting or resetting my Microsoft 365 Developer Program account associated with my email address.

I mistakenly set up the account for Personal Use instead of small business and do not have sandbox access. I tried setting up a new account but am locked out because my phone number is locked with my original account. I do not have another phone number available, so I need to somehow either delete the old Developer account or reset it so that my phone number is freed up and I can rejoin the Developer Program by finishing to set up the new account.

Please advise how I can have this account deleted or my phone number released so I can create a new account.

    Hello,

    I hope you're doing well.

There’s no self-service way to delete or reset a Microsoft 365 Developer account, and the Dev Program team can’t remove a phone number from it. The only way to free up your number is to contact Microsoft Account Support directly: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact?SourceApp=smc2&ContactUsExperienceEntryPointAssetId=account.microsoft.com.

Just tell them you picked the wrong setup (Personal instead of Business) and now your phone number is stuck on that old tenant. They can unlink it for you so you can start fresh with a new Developer Program account.

    Best regards.
