I am over 18 years old, and Microsoft doesn't give me the option to leave my family in family safety settings. I click on the three dots and the only option I have is to change my profile picture. I have tried overriding the settings and contacting the "organizer" of my family, but my profile doesn't show up when I got into the organizer's family safety settings. I do not want to have to restart my account and change everything to leave the family setting.

What else can I do ?

    Hello, elice k

Thank you for your feedback. I understand that you are experiencing issues with family safety. Here are some troubleshooting solutions:

    1. Since the organizer cannot see you on the family.microsoft.com website, ask him/her to try managing from another location.

On a Windows PC: Have the organizer go to “Settings” > ‘Accounts’ > “Family & other users.” Here, they may be able to see the list of family members and try to remove you from there.

On an Xbox console: If you both use an Xbox, the organizer can manage members through the family settings on the console. Sometimes, the console's management interface can display members that aren't visible on the web.

    1. Have the organizer log in to the Microsoft Family Safety page

Even if they can't see your account, have them click their avatar in the top-right corner of the page and select “My Account.”

Once on the account management page, find and click “Privacy.”

In the privacy dashboard, scroll down and find an option labeled “Manage child profile information” or similar.

Even if your account is not displayed in the main list, it is likely to appear on this “Manage Consent” page. The organizer should be able to see your account here.

The organizer needs to locate your account here and select “Remove consent for this child's account”.

The system will warn that this will delete the account, but please don't worry—this will not delete your Microsoft account itself. It simply removes the “parental consent” granted when your account was initially added to the family as a “child account.” The purpose of this step is to forcefully remove your account from the underlying database of the family group.

If none of the above methods work, please note that as a support representative, I do not have access to your account information. You may try contacting Chat for specific assistance.

    Contact Chat:

Go to the following website: Contact - Microsoft Support.

    Enter account.

    Click on Get Help.

    Click on Contact Support.

Select the windows and Manage account security

Click on Chat with a support agent in your web browser

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best Regards,
