Hello,

I have the first Surface Laptop Studio

The fans/vents have become very loud and I am worried there is a blockage and that it may be affecting performance of the laptop. (It seems like it is just the right side vent that suffers the most). Edit: There are also beeping and buzzing noises that have started recently.

I would like Microsoft to look at the laptop and repair it, but I don't think this is an option? If it is please link me to the correct place. But I have searched previously and had no luck.

Please advise. I really don't want to open up the machine myself, but may have to.

Thanks
Michael

    Hello mmcd23,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Your judgment is very correct. If any abnormal noise is heard during use, it is indeed not advisable to continue using it.

The risk of disassembling the device by yourself is quite high, and this may affect your Surface's standard warranty. Therefore, I will directly share the process of contacting the Surface technical support team here. If after listening to your description, they believe that this device needs a complete inspection, they will guide you to create a service order:

    1. Use your personal Microsoft account (not your organization account) to access the following links:

    Contact - Microsoft Support

    1. Type There is an abnormal noise in the Surface Laptop Studio, press Enter, and click "Contact Support" at the bottom:

    1. Make your selection based on the information in the screenshot, and then click Confirm:

    1. You will see contact options for Chat support and Phone support, please contact them during business hours:

I wish you all the best.

In the test just now, I noticed this prompt message, but I believe it should be temporary:
