Edge on iPad Pro 12.9 (1OS 14.4.1 and up) indefinitely non-responsive when tap on address or tab bar areas

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, cleared cache, etc. Works when I use an external keyboard and mouse (bluetooth and Magic Keypad), but touch causes lockup. Happens on both regular and in-private tabs.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to report this difficulty, as I understand that would be a frustration to encounter. I'm Ben, a Community Manager for Microsoft Edge, and I'd be glad to look into this matter so that you can be back on the browser and typing smoothly.

The team is currently investigating a potential fix for this, and I'd like to invite you to test it. Testflight is an app for testing updates. This information will help us to resolve the issue and would be greatly appreciated.

I definitely understand how important a smooth experience on a browser can be, and I want to thank you for your patience as we've investigated it. With your help, we hope to improve the Microsoft Edge experience further. Please let me know if you have any other questions, and I wish you all the best!

-Ben

I sent the feedback. I am fully updated, and I can readily reproduce the issue in both regular and in-private tabs.

    Reproduction steps:

    1. Open Edge
    2. Pinch zoom to get the floating keyboard
    3. Open a new tab (optional here)
    4. Close Edge
    5. Open Edge
    6. Open a new tab (if not performed in step 3, do so now)
    7. Tap in the address bar or the Search bar on the New Tab to try to enter anything
    8. FREEZE!

I know this is an edge case (pun intended), but it is definitely a glitch and one that has been introduced in the last several updates.

Good day Benjamin! I am Independent Advisor Paul R. and I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. My apologies and I understand that you are encountering an issue with regards to Edge for iOS being unresponsive. I have cross checked this on my end using iPad (6th gen) running on iOS 14.5.1 and Edge 46.3.13 and have not encountered an issue. I would suggest to try and update to the latest iOS and also for Edge (if applicable) and see how it goes and if you will still encounter the issue then you can send a feedback to the dev team with regards to this one and hopefully and fix/update will be released soon to correct the issue that is causing the unresponsiveness of Edge when using tap to navigate on it and to send a feedback you can click on the 3 dots > Send feedback.

    Regards,

    Paul R.

I just had a thought, and tested it. Turns out, it's even more specific. The floating keyboard seems to be the culprit. Touch with the floating keyboard enabled locks up on trying to initialize the keyboard. Touch with the standard keyboard enabled initializes the keyboard correctly.
