Linking agency accounts to my agency

Hi, I'm trying to develop the process of linking accounts of an agency to our agency.

I mean, I've an mcc or agency account where I link my clients using BingAds API (I know the process and work flawlessly for advertiser accounts).

My main problem is the next scenario:

I want to link an agancy to mine (as I read that's possible and have done it). But what if want to get a list of the accounts that that agency manages and link them to mine too. Like exploring the accounts tree and add the elements if the father/owner have linked to me.

Using GetAccounts or GetLinkedAccountsAndCustomersInfo methods with my mcc refresh_token I only get the agency account, not every account under the agency (would it be fixed if I use the agency refresh token?)

To make it clear I've the Main mcc where I like to link every user that install my app. If that user has an agency account (1) and that agency account has another agency account (2) I want to get the agency (2) linked accounts and add them to my main mcc. Like going down the tree of linked_accounts.

Or maybe I'm wrong and by having linked the agency account to my agency I can manage its managed accounts?

Extra: I want to ask how can I know via API if an user, accout or customer is an agency or mcc? I usually use getLinkedAccountsMethods and CustomerRole as I don't find a better method.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your help in the forums.

Hi there PedroAvilaKO,

Thank you for your excellent question and for reaching out to Microsoft Advertising Support!

When it comes to API questions and management, we strongly encourage you to reach out to our available support in the API forum that is designed to answer questions on API development. You can also find out more using the Bing Ads API Overview document, Getting Started with the Bing Ads API and Sandbox.

I would like to note that we offer a feature very similar to what you are trying to achieve. You can link your account to the agency you would like to manage. However, you will be unable to view the accounts in which that agency manages from just one link. In order to manage both the agency and the linked accounts in the agency shell, you will need to do one of two options:

  1. Obtain a list of accounts that agency manages and from that list, mass link to the agency shell and the clients. In the article linked above, you can follow the instructions under "Link to multiple accounts in one request."
  2. Have the agency you wish to manage send a user invite from within their agency shell. They can grant you “Super Admin” access for full permissions to the all accounts they manage, or pick and choose what accounts you need access to.

I hope this information is helpful! Should you have any questions or concerns about the information provided, please let me know! I am here to help!

Sincerely,

Hi Madd, thank you for your help.

I've already asked this question in the msdn BingAds forum but the replies are very few and usually Eric Urban is the user who help the most but he reply from time to time.

Of course I've read the API docs and tried one of the methods you show. But with method 1) i can get the list of account of an agency linked to an agency linked to me because I don't have user permissions.

But I haven't tried method 2 so I will try to research that way.

Thank you very much Madd ! :)
