Advertising editor bulk location uploads is asking for these column headings: Target* and ID and it's required.

The explanation pages are extremely confusing:

I was able to download my location CSV:

Do I just replace the Target* with the Location ID columnt?

Hello WalterAvalos,

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Advertising Community forum!

Thank you for bringing to public attention our tool – Microsoft Editor! Why use Microsoft Advertising Editor?

  • Get started quickly: Transfer your account data with Google Import directly in to Microsoft Advertising Editor.
  • Work faster: Sync your campaigns and accounts, make changes or additions offline, and then upload your revisions with one click.
  • Make edits in bulk: Create campaigns, edit ads, and manage millions of keywords at once. Plus, efficiently manage URLs, ad copy, budgets, bids, targeting, and ad extensions.
  • Multiple-account management: Download multiple accounts at the same time, copy and paste from one account to another, and perform multiple Google Imports simultaneously.
  • Research new keywords and bids: Discover new keywords and bids using the keyword research tools, then easily add them to your campaigns.

You can target your customers by location, day of the week or day, device or by network distribution! You can add targeting at the campaign or ad group level.

Let’s focus on location targeting. How to set it up?

  1. Select the campaigns or ad groups from the tree view in the left pane that you want to add targeting to.
  2. Click Locations under Keywords and targeting from the type list in the left pane.
  3. In the Edit the selected location target section:
  4. Specify the location for this entry. Click Edit/find location and you can specify the location by Area targeting (narrow your location target by country/region, city, or U.S. counties) or by Radius targeting (narrow your location to a single mile or kilometer, or expand it to a larger circle).
  5. Enter bid adjustment.

The details you input will automatically populate the new row in the main grid.

What you need to know:

  • To select where you want to show your ad, go to Campaigns or Ad groups in the left pane and select from Targeting method in the edit pane.
  • Targeting by device and by network distribution is still accessible by clicking Additional targeting on the Campaigns tab. (See last two menus below.)
  • You can set multiple radius targets for the same location with different radius values and have different bid adjustments for each target.
  • You can target at the county level for U.S. markets only.

When you target by location, you choose to show ads to potential customers in specific countries/regions, states/provinces, metro areas, or cities. For example, if you own a car repair service in Oakland, California, you might want to target your customers in the Oakland metro area, which includes the surrounding cities. That way, most of the people who see your ad are within range of your service. Use the Locations options in your campaign settings to define the physical location you want to target.

Geographical locations data can be used to for Location Targeting e.g. show ads to people in a specific country/region, state/province, county, metro area (Nielsen DMA® in the United States), postal code, or city. You can call the GetGeoLocationsFileUrl operation to get a temporary file URL that can be used to download the latest geographical locations data. You can also get the locations data from the Microsoft Advertising Developer Portal. You must be signed in to the developer portal with a Microsoft account user who has Microsoft Advertising credentials.

For code examples that demonstrate how to download the geographical locations codes, see Geographical Locations Code Example.

To answer your query regarding Target and ID column as screenshots attached by you above:

Target is the ‘location ID’ from the list that you have a screenshot of.

The second column, for this example, is setting a bid adjustment.

The ID is not needed if this is a new location, which is what I’m assuming, in your account.

I will send you a private message to assist you  further with your query.

Sincerely,

Dagmara | Microsoft Advertising Support | 1(800)-518-5689
