Hi Nanthakumar Ramanathan,

Great question! To begin using Bing Ads API, you must be a Bing Ads user and have a developer token. A developer token enables programmatic access to the accounts permitted for a user. To get a developer token for production, you must login at the Bing Ads Developer Portalas a Microsoft Account user with the Super Admin role. Then click on the Request Token button. The Super Admin may request API access for any user within their customer scope. For more information, see User Roles and Available Service Operations.

Please note, if you use sandbox, the sandbox and production environments use separate credentials. You can sign up for a Sandbox account here. Everyone can use the universal sandbox developer token i.e., BBD37VB98.

Bing Ads API is the most efficient way to manage many large campaigns or to integrate your marketing with other in-house systems. The Bing Ads API also supports multiple customer accounts making it easy for ad agencies to manage campaigns for many clients. Some organizations may choose a hybrid approach; using the web UI for most tasks but automating reporting or campaign optimization with the API. For advertisers placing a large number of ads or developers building advertising tools, the Bing Ads API provides a programmatic interface to Bing Ads.

Bing Ads API is useful if:

  • You are a direct advertiser managing your own ad spend and you want to integrate our PPC marketing with your internal inventory management or conversion tracking systems. For more information, see Management Model for Direct Advertisers.
  • You are a tools vendor developing advertising management solutions for advertisers or agencies. For more information, see Management Model for Tool Providers.
  • You are an advertising agency and manage ad campaigns for many clients. For more information, see Management Model for Agencies.
