Filter Feed by Country - Defaulting to United States

I am assisting an individual in getting his Microsoft Ads account up and running. For whatever reason, when he imports his campaigns from Google Ads, Microsoft Ads makes the "filter by country/region of sale" under the feed label default to the United States. However, his store is set up in Australia. When Microsoft defaults the country to the United States none of his products show up in the ad campaigns because they are all for sale in Australia only. Once you change this setting to Australia, they show up.

How do we fix this to stop defaulting to the United States? Is the problem in Microsoft Ads? Or could it be in his Google Ads account?

Has anyone else run into this issue?

Hello Jacob,

Thank you for using our Microsoft Advertising Community Forum!

I understand that you are assisting one of your clients to import their shopping campaigns, but that the 'country/region of sale' keeps switching to the US rather than Australia which should be the correct option. I hope the response and resources provided here will be of help to you.

Microsoft Merchant Center supports the use of Google data feeds for catalog feed files. This way merchants won’t have to redo the work already done for Google's Product Listing Ads. Make it even easier to import your Google feed files to Microsoft Merchant Center by using the Google Merchant Center import tool.

How do I import a single Google Merchant Center store's offers?

Please follow the below steps to start a new import and please note that if you've created feeds previously or have existing feeds in your store, you can associate these feeds into your import to help save you time and effort.

  1. From the top menu, select Tools > Merchant Center.

If you're using the new Microsoft Advertising navigation, from the navigation menu on the left, select Tools > Merchant Center.

  1. Select the Microsoft Merchant Center store you want to import to.
  2. Select the Import tab.
  3. Select New import.
  4. Sign in to your Google account. If you have already signed in to your Google account previously, your sign in will still be valid and you can select Continue
  5. Under Choose Feeds, select Create new and enter the Feed name and select the Country of sale and Language.
  6. Select Create feed.
  7. Select the Microsoft Advertising feeds you want to import into from Google Merchant Center.
  8. Select Next.
  9. You have options on When to run your import. You can opt to run a one-time import immediately by choosing Now from the list, or you can schedule a daily, weekly, or monthly recurring import that starts at a specific time.
  10. Use Find and replace string in URL to replace tracking metadata that you use in Google Merchant Center. For example, you will want to Find instances of "Google" and Replace it with "Bing" so that you can correctly attribute clicks.
  11. Notification settings: If you create a schedule recurring import, you can opt to receive an email every time there's an import, an email only when there are issues with the import, or no emails at all. You'll also need to add a Schedule name for a recurring import.

Tip: Notifications will be sent to the contact details on file in the store's settings. There, you'll be able to update email addresses as needed. 12. Select Next. 13. Take a moment to review a summary of the import. Select Start Import if you're running a one-time import, or select Save if you're scheduling an import.

To view specific details about your feeds, select the Feed name from the table in the Feeds tab. Here, you can view the Feed summary and Feed settings. You can also see the import details in the Choose import options step of the import process.

Google Ads deprecated their country/region of sale option and it was replaced with a more generic 'feed_label value'. Due to this change, when you have two catalogs, the system will automatically set the country/region of sale to your default catalog, even if you wish to use the country/region of sale for your other catalog. To fix this, you must update your Google Shopping settings and set your feed_label field to the desired country/region of sale. This will ensure the Shopping campaign import uses the desired country/region of sale.

You must select the markets to import; otherwise, offers from markets not selected will not get imported. For additional details and to see how you can import a Google Merchant Center store from a Google account that has multiple stores, please see the following help pages:

We are not trying to import our Google Merchant Center Store. Our products are imported directly from our site utilizing the Symprosis application. However, when we import our ad campaigns from Google Ads, the filter feed by country is defaulting to United States instead of Australia as it should.
