This problem occurred after reformatting/resetting my windows pc. So basically, whenever I favorite a website, its icons turn into an earth-like icon instead of its true icon. What do i need to do to fix this issue?

    Resetting Edge worked:

    1. Close Edge.
    2. Press Win + R, type %localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge, and click OK.
    3. Rename the User Data folder to User DataOld.
    4. Start Edge.

Note: Make sure your bookmarks are synced to your profile/account. If not, you will lose everything.

    Hello Mark Martinez,

Here are the steps to Fix Missing Favicons in Bookmarks

    1. Clear Browser Cache

Sometimes the favicon cache gets corrupted or doesn't refresh properly.

In Edge: Go to SettingsPrivacy, search, and servicesClear browsing data → Choose "Cached images and files" → Click "Clear now".

    1. Revisit the Bookmarked Sites

Favicons are usually reloaded when you visit the site.

    • Open each bookmarked site in a new tab.
    • Wait a few seconds for the favicon to load.
    • Close the tab and check the bookmark again.
    1. Reset Favicon Cache (Advanced)

If the issue persists, you may need to manually reset the favicon cache.

    • For Edge:
      1. Close Edge.
      2. Navigate to: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default
      3. Delete the Favicons file.
      4. Restart Edge and revisit the sites.
    1. Check for Browser Updates

Make sure your browser is up to date. Sometimes favicon issues are fixed in newer versions.

Manually visit each favorite to force the loading of its favicon.

Clear the cache via edge://settings/clearBrowserData, then restart Edge.

Temporarily disable extensions, especially those related to security or privacy.

Make sure Edge is up to date.
