Is it feasible to use Windows XP with modern peripherals like the Epson ET-2840?

I have always loved Windows XP and feel it is the best, at the least, for me. I recognize it has less capabilities than newer versions, but if it works for me, can I still use it? But, if I use Windows XP, will it be compatible with my printer (Epson ET-2840) and so forth?

To be frank, I am a LONG TIME user of PCs. I was trained in programming PCs before they were released to the public. Eventually, I used DOS, no problem and then Windows. But, I LOVED XP and for me, at the age of 81 and far past retirement, it is fine and dandy and causes no problems or issues for me, that I recall now. Up until very recently, I was always told that we must progress with Windows versions or peripheral equipment will not function and neither will newer computes. But recently I came across info that suggest I was told wrong and that we can use older versions of Windows.

TRUE or FALSE?

Hi Temp User. We share a common love for computers I see.

    TRUE or FALSE?

You were told that we must upgrade Windows to use modern peripherals and computers.

    • TRUE, for the most part. Modern peripherals require modern drivers, which are only written for newer operating systems.
    • But also FALSE in spirit. You can keep using XP if you stay within its ecosystem:
      • Older hardware
      • Compatible printers (e.g., HP LaserJet 1012, Epson Stylus from XP era)
      • Offline or LAN-based use
      • Older software (e.g., Office 2003, Visual Studio 6)

Modern devices like the Epson ET-2840 will not be compatible with XP due to driver limitations.

I hope this makes sense. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I guess I have to learn now how to use this new system. i tried asking a question by adding a comment, but it has failed and disappeared. So, I will ask here:

Obviously, I will not be changing to XP since I would not be able to use my relatively new printer which would be a total waste of funds. But, you said in your answer,

"But also FALSE in spirit. You can keep using XP if you stay within its ecosystem

following with a tic item that was,

    "Offline or LAN-based use";

does that mean I also could not use my fiber optic connection for the net? which would be even more tragic.

Sorry for asking but my memory is now so old much of it is expiring on a seemingly daily basis. Like if you don't use it, you lose it. Sad to say!!!

THANKS for your help!! It is GREATLY appreciated!!!!
