Why can't I access my own documents?

Suddenly I can not open my own documents- it says I need to be granted access but when I try to do that it says access cannot be granted. these are all the documents I have created on this same computer, which is a Mac. I can't go through and correct all of them. Why did this happen? My Office is up to date

    Make sure that your documents are saved to the Documents folder in MacOS. That should let you open them without any error messages.
