I think I have Microsoft version 206. Outlook has loaded with no issues for a year and suddenly will not load. Need fix as soon as possible.

    Hi Cross, David,

    Welcome to our forum!

Here are some steps you may want to take:

    1. Run Outlook in Safe Mode (Checks for Add-in Conflicts)
    • Press Windows + R >Type: outlook.exe /safe  >Enter.
    • If Outlook opens in Safe Mode, the problem is likely caused by a faulty add-in.
      • Go to File > Options > Add-ins.
        • At the bottom, select COM Add-ins and click Go….
          • Uncheck all add-ins, restart Outlook normally.
    1. Repair Microsoft Office (Fixes Corrupted Files)
    • Press Windows + R >Type appwiz.cpl >Enter.
    • Find Microsoft Office 2016 > Click Change.>Select Quick Repair > Repair.
      • If Quick Repair fails, try Online Repair (more thorough).
      • Restart your PC and try Outlook again.
    1. Update Office 2016 (Ensure Latest Patches)
    • Open Word or Excel > File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
    • Microsoft may have released a fix for your issue.
    1. Create a New Outlook Profile
    • Open Control Panel > Mail (32-bit).
    • Click Show Profiles > Add.
    • Name it (e.g., "OutlookNew") and set up your email.
    • Set this profile as default and restart Outlook.
    1. Check for PST/OST Corruption (If Data File is Damaged)
    • __Press Windows + R, type: _outlook.exe /scanpst ___
    • Follow prompts to scan and repair your Outlook data file.
    1. Disable Hardware Graphics Acceleration (If Outlook Crashes on Launch)
    • Open Outlook in Safe Mode (outlook.exe /safe).
    • Go to File > Options > Advanced.
    • Under Display, check "Disable hardware graphics acceleration".
    • Restart Outlook normally.
    1. Reinstall Office 2016
    • Uninstall:
      1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program.
        1. Select Microsoft Office 2016 > Uninstall.
    • Reinstall:
      1. Download from office.com (sign in with your Microsoft account).

If all above do not work, please check Event Viewer for errors:

    • Press Windows + R, type eventvwr.msc.
    • Go to Windows Logs > Application and look for Outlook errors.
    • Temporarily disable antivirus (e.g., McAfee, Norton) as it may block Outlook.

If Outlook 2016 keeps failing, consider upgrading to Microsoft 365 (subscription-based) for better stability and support.

     Hope it helps.
