a friend and I have been using skype for years. Being forced to change. so we did.
Teams is only on my android. She is on iphone. (if that makes a difference
But her messages do not show up in the chat timeline. I see it say "typing" but nothing shows. I see the notification box show at top show that a reply was sent.
In order to see her reply, I must back out and click on her name to make it appear in the chat timeline.
I must be missing a setting somewhere but I have tried every setting I can find.
I redownloaded the app. cleared cache. checked notifiations. check to see if muted.
help :)

Fixes and Workarounds.
- Enable Background Data / App Refresh
Ensure Teams is allowed to work in the background:
Android: Go to Settings > Apps > Teams > Mobile Data & WiFi → Enable “Allow background data usage” and “Allow data while Data saver is on.”
- Turn Off Battery Optimization for Teams
Go to Settings > Battery > Battery optimization.
Find Microsoft Teams and set it to "Don’t optimize".
This ensures Teams stays active and updates chat views in real time.
- Force Sign Out and Sign In Again
In Teams → tap your profile picture → Settings > Sign out.
Then sign back in.
This forces Teams to refresh user sessions and chat synchronization.
- Switch Between Wi-Fi and Mobile Data
Test if this is a connectivity routing issue. Sometimes messages don’t update properly due to poor sync with Microsoft’s servers under certain network conditions.
- Use the Web App Temporarily
As a temporary workaround, try accessing https://teams.live.com in a mobile browser — it’s the personal Teams web version and may behave more reliably.You're not alone — this is a known bug or behavior that can occur with Microsoft Teams mobile apps, particularly during recent migrations from Skype or when both users are using personal (free) Teams accounts.
