How to switch from Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 - en-us to Microsoft 365 - en-us

Firstly, the child tag bears no relation to my issue - so please ignore that. There was nothing appropriate to choose from.

My laptop originally had Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 - en-us installed on it. I wanted to start using the 'dictate' function in Office, but it's not available in this version. As I have a 365 subscription I was able to download and install Microsoft 365 - en-us.

But I don't know how to change the default software to open my Office documents. Is there a way to do this, or should I uninstall Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 - en-us? If I do that will Microsoft 365 - en-us automatically become the default, or do I need to do something else?
