Teams Phone won't enroll in Intune after getting AOSP Firmware

We have Teams Phones that are moving from Android Device Administrator to AOSP.

The AOSP Firmware install completes fine and the phone works fine, it also appears in the Teams Admin Center. However, when looking in Intune, the phone never transitions from Android Device Administrator to Android AOSP. (As I'm reading it should)

If I delete the phone from Intune/Azure/Teams, and then Wipe/Reset the device, it will not enroll in Intune. The only info I've been able to find thus far is attached....and it's not helpful at allimage

This doesn't seem to be an issue with Enrollment Restrictions, Configuration Policy, Compliance Policy nor Conditional Access.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated, as "Unknown Error" isn't very helpful.

    Hi Andrew Ling

I understand that you're encountering an error while migrating Teams Android Devices from Device Administrator to AOSP Device Management. Could you please let me know which Teams phone model you are using? It's important to ensure that you have the correct version and prerequisites for your device. For instance, with Poly Phones, manual firmware availability requires updating to Teams app version 1449/1.0.94.2025084203 as a prerequisite

Have you created the required profiles?

There are two parts to a successful migration to AOSP Device Management:

    • Step 1: Create new enrollment profiles & configuration/compliance policies in Intune.
    • Step 2: Once the AOSP Device Management capable firmware is released in Teams Admin Center, you will need to install the firmware updates for each of the supported Teams Devices.
