According to my research, the issue may be related to authentication, you can try to resolve the issue by doing the following:
- On iPhone: go to settings, Mail, Accounts, Add Account
- Choose to add a Microsoft Exchange account. Use Microsoft 365 email/password
- Choose options you want to add (mail, calendar, etc.)
- Add the account
- Go to Outlook app and add new Microsoft 365 account
- When switching to Authenticator, you should now be able to proceed instead of seeing the “something went wrong” message.
