SCDPM_2025.exe fails extracting itself with "Failed to set permissions"

(Note: The child tag selected is "Operations Manager", but should be "Data Protection Manager". However, this option is not offered.)

Hello everybody,

for installing System Center DPM 2025, there is the SCDPM_2025.exe, which should extract itself into a new folder (default is "C:\System Center 2025 Data Protection Manger", or the same folder on the drive where the .exe resides). However, extraction fails with

Error: Failed to set permissions.

followed by:

Runtime Error (at 13:718): Installation aborted because it failed to set permissions on the folder.

Attached is the log file when executing SCDPM_2025.exe /log.

I tried to manually edit permissions on the folder so that only admins have access (SYSTEM also tried), but the error remains the same.

How can I extract SCDPM_2025.exe please?
