How to get updated APIs for Azure Government

We have a solution running in the Azure government Cloud and use Azure Maps for addressing and reverse geocoding. Recently, the Public Azure Maps updated their APIs so they are more accurate and complete. But, the updates don;t seem to work in the government Cloud the same way, or as accurately as the Public CLoud.

Where can I find the latest guidance on Map APIs for the government Cloud? Have the same updates been made to these APIs that were made for the Public Cloud?

    Hi Jerry,

I think this question is likely a continuation of your previous post, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/2247042/how-to-make-my-azure-map-determine-accurate-locati. Essentially it is not Azure Maps that provides you the co-ordinate but the device. It is up to the user of that device to offer you a less precise or more precise co-ordinate. Work with the Developer APIs for the device that you are using to ensure the user is asked to share the precision co-ordinate and you will likely get better results.

    Sincerely,

    Hello Jim Derry,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Azure Government Cloud's Maps services maintain separate release cycles from the public cloud due to compliance requirements, often resulting in delayed feature updates. While the public Azure Maps recently enhanced its geocoding accuracy, these improvements may not yet be available in the government environment, this intentional version disparity to meet government security standards.

For authoritative guidance, consult the Azure Government Maps documentation or contact your Microsoft point of contact for updated timelines. If mission requirements demand higher accuracy, organizations may need to request special exemptions to leverage public cloud APIs where permissible under compliance frameworks.
