Hi,

Our company is planning to implement a Microsoft 365 backup solution. I can't find information about where exactly my backup data is stored, for an example, our Teams / Outlook / Sharepoint location is the European Union. So my question is: will our backup be stored in only one location? Is this data replicated between different data centers?

Best regards

Paweł Konkel

Are you talking about the first-party Microsoft 365 backup solution? For it, data is stored in place, i.e. inside the mailbox, so the location for the backup is the same as the location for the mailbox.

    Hello Pawel,

According to Microsoft documentation of M365 Backup:

"Data never leaves the Microsoft 365 data trust boundary or the geographic locations of your current data residency."

You can read more on the topic here

In case you're unsure of the Geographic location of your data, you can check the M365 admin portal:

    Settings> Org Settings> Organization Profile>Data location

You'll see at the top of the page in Data location, "****As part of our transparency principles, we publish the location where ‎Microsoft‎ stores your customer data", and below where the data for each service is stored.
