Hi Team,

I registered one Azure Free trial with id ******@gmail.com on 31-03-2025 by mapping my debit card. It was registered. Two times INR 2 was deducted from my debit card.

After some time I get a msg from my back saying "Auto-Pay activated on Kotak card for Microsoft Business from 31-03-2025 for INR 200 000.

Not sure why I get this msg. Do it really debit my account?

Regards,

Susil

    Hi susil,

It seems that you concerned about the Auto-Pay message you received after signing up for the Azure Free Trial. Let me clarify this for you.

When you sign up for an Azure Free Trial, Microsoft checks your payment method by applying small temporary amounts (e.g., INR 2). This is a normal procedure to validate the card.

But the auto-pay alert from your bank is probably because Azure subscriptions are usually configured for automatic billing. Although the free trial provides you with credits to consume Azure services, Microsoft needs a valid payment method for any usage above the free threshold. Your bank may have proactively marked this as an "Autopay" setup, but that does not mean an actual charge of INR 200,000 has been made.

Your account will not be charged unless you choose to upgrade to a paid 'Pay-As-You-Go' plan. Azure Free Trial provides $200 in credits for the first 30 days, and once the credits are used up or expired, your subscription will be disabled unless you explicitly upgrade.

If you want to avoid any unexpected charges, you may want to monitor your account and ensure that you are aware of your usage limits and any potential charges beyond the free tier.
