Word cannot be opened, and the following dialog box will appear. It will close after clicking the "Do not send" button. Run Word again and you will be asked if you want to start Word in safe mode. If you choose 'Yes' here, Word will enter' Safe Mode '. In this mode, Word will only display a blank window and the document needs to be manually opened before it can be displayed. If you choose 'No', Word will pop up an error dialog box and get stuck in a loop.

However, all Office components except Word can run normally.

    Hi,

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with Microsoft Word. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this problem:

    1. Check for Hidden Dialog Boxes:
      • Sometimes, a dialog box might be hidden behind other windows. Use Alt + Tab to cycle through open windows and see if you can find the hidden dialog box.
    2. Disable Add-ins:
      • Add-ins can sometimes cause issues. To disable them:
      • Open Word.
      • Go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
      • Select COM Add-ins and click Go.
      • Uncheck all add-ins and click OK.
      • Restart Word.
    3. Repair Microsoft Office:
      • You can try repairing your Office installation:
      • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
      • Find Microsoft Office in the list, right-click, and select Change.
      • Choose Repair and follow the prompts.
    4. Delete Normal.dotm Template:
      • The Normal.dotm template can sometimes cause issues. To reset it:
      • Open File Explorer.
      • Navigate to C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates.
      • Rename or delete Normal.dotm.
      • Restart Word.
    5. Open Word in Safe Mode:
      • If Word opens in Safe Mode, it might be an issue with add-ins or templates. To open Word in Safe Mode:
      • Press Win + R, type winword /safe, and press Enter.

I recommend that you restart your computer. If the problem remains, repair Office (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b).
