The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE operation

    Hello GracePalmer-3977,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

The error code 0xC1900101-0x30018 typically indicates a driver issue during the upgrade process. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Temporarily disable any antivirus or security software you have installed. Sometimes these programs can interfere with the upgrade process.
    2. Perform a clean boot to minimize the number of background services running:

    • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.

    • Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services and click Disable all.

    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager. Disable all startup items.

    • Restart your computer and try the upgrade again.

    1. Ensure all your drivers are up to date. You can use Device Manager to check for updates.
    2. Run SFC and DISM:

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    1. Download the Media Creation Tool and use it to upgrade your PC. This tool can help bypass some common issues.
    2. Uninstall any applications that might be causing conflicts, such as third-party security software or system utilities.
    3. Follow the steps to reset Windows Update components as mentioned in Additional resources for Windows Update - Windows Client | Microsoft Learn.
    4. Check if there's a BIOS update available for your system. Upgrading the BIOS can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
