Early deletion fees from archive on a Soft Delete blob account

Hello,

I have a blob in archive. If I delete it after 160 days (30 days before the minimum retention time in archive required elapses) and if I have a soft delete of 30 days activated on my storage account, will I pay for 60days of storage worth in archive that is 30 days early deletion penalty + 30 soft delete or will I only pay only for 30 days extra of storage in archive?

Thanks in advance,

That's actually 20 days before the minimum retention period (180 days) in the archive tier. AFAIK, the total cost will include both the early deletion penalty and the cost of retaining blobs due to soft delete (for more, refer to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1684613/i-wanted-to-know-about-the-pricing-and-cost-detail )

The two or separate/independent from each other.

    Hi Marija Kirandjiska,

If you delete a blob in the archive tier after 160 days, which is 20 days before the minimum retention period of 180 days elapses, you will incur an early deletion fee for the 20 days that you did not meet the retention requirement. Additionally, since you have a soft delete retention period of 20 days activated on your storage account, you will also be charged for those 20 days of soft delete retention. Therefore, you will pay for a total of 40 days of storage: 20 days for the early deletion penalty and 20 days for the soft delete retention.

"In an account that has soft delete enabled, a blob is considered deleted after it is deleted and retention period expires. Until that period expires, the blob is only soft-deleted and is not subject to the early deletion penalty." https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/access-tiers-overview
