Hi,
I'm using Visual Studio 2022 to develop some WPF/XAML applications - i've previously been developing C# and python - and am now seeing an intermittent error when editing XAML files that i have not seen before:
A popup that says: "Value does not fall within the expected range"
VS then freezes and crashes. I find if i try and perform the same edit again, i can crash VS at the same place.
Removing the .vs seems to recover the system - but after some editing, this error pops up again fairly consistently.
I'm on version 17.12.5 - working with XAML with C# code behind. I am only finding this issue during editing of XAML files.
Any suggestions?

The .vs folder contains some information about the specific solution. As you mentioned that removing the .vs folder seems to recover the system, is this issue replicated in another newly created solution/project?
If you try to manually remove the bin, obj and the hidden .vs folder, then rebuild the project, will this issue appear again? Maybe there are some cache files/folders need to be cleaned.
Besides, is it possible for you to update VS to the latest version (17.13.2) and test again?
Thanks for the further suggestions. I have tried manually removing the bin and obj folders as well as the .vs directory. That said - was not aware i was not on the latest. Let me try again with 17.13.2 and trying on newly created projects to see if the problem persists! Thanks for the pointers!

The error has reappeared. Even after updating to 17.13.3 and deleting .vs, bin, and obj folders - Visual Studio consistently crashes when i try to edit a XAML file in the same place. I tried creating a new WPF project, and found the same issue when trying to edit the sample XAML that was created with the project. I am having to edit the XAML in a separate editor outside of Visual Studio at this point to avoid this crash when editing XAML.
Any suggestions on how to further troubleshoot or file a bug report?

You can submit a ticket on Developer Community by clicking Help, Send Feedback, Report a Problem, in Visual Studio.
For further troubleshoot, I think you need to share us the complete steps to reproduce this issue. As you have tested it in a newly created WPF project, it should be easy.
I double tested on my side but failed to reproduce this issue. One thing to note is that I'm using 17.13.4(latest version). Previously you mentioned that deleting the cache folders made it work, I doubt that this issue is related to specific operations and cache files.
If it's possible, you can try to reproduce this issue on another machine, see if the same issue appears. It's helpful for narrowing this issue down.
Many thanks for the update, and now strangely, when i try and reproduce - it does not. Seems a reboot has resolved for now. Very puzzling intermittent error. I'll try and capture specific steps next time it arises. Many thanks!
