Hello,

I need some help with clearing read emails which appear in my unread email folder.

This is on the windows desktop version not the web version.

I have emails in my unread folder which have been openned and marked as read.

If i right click and mark the email as read, it is marked as read and disappears from my inbox, as it should. the email is then still available in my inbox, and marked as read.

However, if i double left click on the email it opens my email (as i prefer not to have a reading pane), it then doesnt disappear from my unread folder. this email is still available in my inbox and is marked as read. even if i mark it as unread and then right click and mark it as read, it still stays visible in my unread folder but is marked as read.

Is there a way to clear the read emails from my unread folder ?

Thank you

Marko.

    Hi @Marko T

    Welcome to our forum!

For better research, please provide more details about this case:

What version of your Outlook client is?

Did this happen by accident? Or is this the case with all mails?

    Try the following possible solutions:

1.Check your Outlook client version to make sure you have updated to the latest version.

2.Select File > Options > Advanced. Under Outlook panes, select Reading Pane. You can change how quickly messages are marked as read or change how and when messages are marked as read, then see if the changes take effect.

3.Corrupted Outlook views might cause issues like this. To make your view settings go back to the default, you could try the /cleanviews command (Press Win + R, type “Outlook.exe /cleanviews”, press Enter) and see if there is any difference. If necessary, remember to back up your views first.
